A huge congratulations go to Wealden Sailability who came second in their region winning a massive £15,000 in the MCF Community Awards Tercentenary Fund. Mike Coleman, a trustee at Wealden said : “This is a great result and we would like to thank the thousands of people who voted for us. This grant will allow us to take forward plans for our further development and more details will be available soon.”
To celebrate 300 years of Freemasonry, the Masonic Charitable Foundation held a public vote to decide how to spend £3 million of charity funding. The 300 nominated charities received a fantastic amount of support from their local communities and the Masonic Charitable Foundation thanked everyone who took part in the MCF Community Awards by voting and by encouraging their friends and families to vote.
Awards on offer were for 1 x £25,000, 1 x £15,000, 1 x £6000 and 3 x £4000 to six charities selected to represent West Kent Masonic province and the amount awarded depended on a public vote. Over 177,000 people cast their votes to support a cause that matters to them!
The MCF Community Support grants for charities help people experiencing poverty and disadvantage, sickness and disability or barriers to education and employment. The charities they support make a significant and lasting difference to thousands of people in need and further those causes about which Freemasons and their families are most concerned.
When talking about healthe and disability in general they say that their grants support charities that improve the lives of people with poor physical or mental health, physical or learning disabilities and chronic or life-limiting conditions. Other charities they support help carers and those in need of end-of-life or palliative care.
About Wealden Sailability
Wealden Sailability (WS) provides people with all types of physical, mental and learning disabilities the chance to sail. With over 80 volunteers, WS supports more than 60 people every week to sail on a Tuesday and Thursday between April and October. Based in Sevenoaks WS attracts disabled sailors from across Kent and south London and has grown from a small group of enthusiastic sailors and now has a fleet of 23 specially-adapted boats of differing types and sizes.

Funded entirely through the generosity of Freemasons and their families, the Masonic Charitable Foundation is one of the largest grant-making charities in the country. Most of the support provided by the Masonic Charitable Foundation takes the form of financial grants to individuals and families to assist with daily living costs.
