Vine are ready for new season with return of overseas Schlemmer

South African Luke Schlemmer will return to Sevenoaks Vine Cricket Club this summer as their overseas player for 2019.

Schlemmer made a huge impression last year with some big impact performances for the club. He scored a total of 501 runs and took 22 wickets during his spell in 2018, with his best coming against Bexley at The Vine, where he took three wickets for just four runs.

Sevenoaks Vine Chairman, Andy Richardson, was pleased to ensure Schlemmer returns to the set-up saying: “it’s great news for the club”.

He added that the club have made a number of new signings in the winter and that “he was very optimistic for the forthcoming season”.

Sevenoaks Vine players returned to the winter nets in February in preparation for the 2019 campaign and Richardson was hopeful of adding a fourth team to the club who celebrate their 285th year this summer.

The Sevenoaks Vine Club will once again be hosting their Cricket Week starting on Friday 5th July until Sunday 14th July, with the now infamous ‘Challenge the Legends’ T20 match taking place at 3pm on Thursday 11th.
