Town on verge of Velocity success

Sevenoaks Town are on the verge of securing their place in the last 32 of the Velocity Trophy after beating Cray Valley PM 1-0 on Tuesday night. Sevenoaks’ cup specialist, Tom Ripley, came up with a winning header in the 84th minute to give Micky Collins’ side a well deserved victory over the team that beat Town 1-0 back on a searing Bank Holiday Monday in August.

Tom Ripley’s 84th minute header gave Sevenoaks Town another victory in the Velocity Trophy

Sevenoaks have one more match to play in the new league format, which is against VCD Athletic FC, but the match will not take place until Tuesday 12th November. By that time, Sevenoaks will know the outcome of all the other remaining matches, meaning they could have already progressed before kicking a ball. That all depends on how Phoenix FC and Sittingbourne FC perform in their last two games, and they play each other on Tuesday 22nd October.

About the Velocity Trophy
The new look Velocity Trophy means the initial matches are played as a league, with each team playing each other just once. The rules are laid out as: three points for a win; zero for losing; one point for a draw – with a penalty shootout afterwards, the winner of that then gets an extra point. Simple.
