There’s still no stopping the Sevenoaks Suns

The Sevenoaks Suns strengthened their grip on top spot in the WBBL championship after they protected their stunning unbeaten record to move to 12-0 for the season after defeating the BA London Lions 35-80 in Barking in their latest match.

Sevenoaks showcased their immense power by despatching their hosts with ease, completing a defensive lockdown that made it a long night for the struggling Lions, who are still to register a victory this season.

There was no chance of an upset after the Suns kept the Lions scoreless for the opening five minutes of the contest, racing into a 11-0 lead and restricting their opponents to a mere 16 points in the first half. The Lions only shot 17% all game and that is never going to win you any basketball match. Leading scorers for Sevenoaks were Chantelle Pressley (15), Julia Koppl (14) and Renee Busch (14, 12 of which were three-pointers).

The Suns are now enjoying a two-week break but will return against Caledonia Pride on February 17 in Edinburgh, before hosting title contenders Leicester Riders at the Sennocke Centre on February 25. This will be Sevenoaks’ biggest game of the season and we urge you all to go and cheer them on.
