The end of an era: Sevenoaks Town part company with Micky Collins after 8 years

One of the first ever images Sevenoaks Sport & Wellbeing took was in May 2017 just after Sevenoaks Town FC lifted the Southern Counties East Football League (SCEFL) League Cup. The image was one of manager Micky Collins and Club Chairman Paul Lansdale walking away with the trophy at Tonbridge Angels ground, both grinning wildly. This was the club’s reward just three years after Collins took charge of the club.

Whilst this season hasn’t gone as well as he might have hoped, the club currently sit in 18th place in the Isthmian South East Division, the eight years under his tenure have seen them rise to unprecedented success, winning the SCEFL title and cup, and earning promotion to the Isthmian League. They finished 10th in their first Isthmian season, and were 10th and 5th when the last two seasons came to an early end.

In a club statement, Paul Lansdale said:” After an amazing eight seasons, Micky and I have spoken and we feel it’s time to make a change. It really has been an amazing journey and one the whole club will remember for many years to come.

He added: “Micky has put ‘little old’ Sevenoaks Town FC on the map and his support has always been unquestionable and unconditional. Micky is, and will continue to be, a much loved member of the Sevenoaks town family and, despite this being a very disappointing announcement, Micky will always be very welcome at the club and fully deserves all the recognition for the amazing work and endless hours he has put into the success of the last few years.”

“On behalf of the whole club, I want to wish Micky all the very best for the future and a massive thank you for eight amazing years.”

The club are advertising for his replacement, and are asking that all applicants email the club at vacancy@sevenoakstownfc.co.uk by 6.00pm on Wednesday 16th February.

Under Micky Collins, Sevenoaks Town FC have had the following success:

  • SCEFL Challenge Cup Winners 2016/17
  • Promoted to the Isthmian League, the highest level the club has ever played at
  • SCEFL Premier Division Winners 2017/18
  • Furthest progression in the FA Cup, FA Vase and FA Trophy

The above is some achievement when you remember he took over in May 2014, when the club had just finished bottom of the SCEFL in 2013/14.

Keeping it in the club: in 2018 Sevenoaks Town Manager Micky Collins was joined by Club President Eddie Diplock, Chairman Paul Lansdale and Captain Corey Holder to celebrate their SCEFL league championship win at Erith Town.
