Swanley Rugby Club announce plans for new clubhouse

Swanley RFC are both pleased and proud to announce that they have secured a long term future and presence in Swanley.

As the only rugby club in Swanley and the immediate surrounding area this is a huge step forward for the Club which will enable them to focus on bringing rugby to a wider range of people and age groups with vastly improved pitch, changing and social facilities.

This recent development comes about as a result of the fervent support of Swanley Town Council officers and councillors, especially Mayor Lesley Dyball and Councillor Michael Horwood.

In dialogue with the Club’s committee they have shown great insight into the needs of a developing grass roots rugby club and the benefits that it can bring to the local community. They have worked closely with them to put in place plans to realise these ambitions for the 2019/20 season.

Immediate benefits include pitch drainage improvements to eliminate the current flooding problems that will also result in a safer playing surface for the players.

In addition, the Club will be able to rent from Swanley Town Council a purpose built, secure changing room and showering facility that will not only enhance their reputation in the rugby community, but will make for a much more pleasant experience for players and spectators alike on match days.

They are confident it will help develop their playing squads, both junior and senior, in readiness for further progression up the league structure.
In the long-term the Club will be working closely with Swanley Town Council to secure additional funding and grants from a variety of sources to obtain, and install, a clubhouse next to the pitch. This will complete the transition from a newly formed club to an established rugby cub all within the space of just three years.

They are very much looking forward to many happy, and successful, years of partnership with the local community.
