Suns prepare for Cup Final with 20th straight league win

With just six days to go until the WBBL Cup Final, Sevenoaks Suns are yet to taste defeat in league action this season after taking down Manchester Mystics at the Sennocke Centre on Sunday afternoon.

Head Coach Len Busch and his players are still flawless as they turned up the heat after half-time to take control of this tight game.

Australian and season-newcomer to the Suns, Jessica Good, impressed on the day with a team high of 19 points, however it was her flawless 100% record of 3-pointers as she hit four baskets from all four attempts. In fact, Sevenoaks were lighting it up from long-range with a total of nine baskets from 16.

Janice Monakana also starred in what was another great team performance, with Ta’Yani Clarke and Cat Carr both scoring 14 each. Judit Fritz (8) and Julia Koppl (6) also contributed to the team effort.

Manchester fought extremely hard in the second quarter and got their noses in front but Sevenoaks made a statement of intent for the second half with an 11-3 run heading to the locker room.
There were an array of strong displays in this match and none more so than Good’s 19, however Carr added nine assists to her 14 points and Clark absolutely shone with 14 points, eight assists and four steals.

Cup Final awaits
Suns will now travel to Birmingham for the Cup Final on Sunday against Westfield Health Sheffield Hatters in a somewhat boosted mood given their recent wins against some tough opponents.
However, missed opportunities in the paint against a tougher team will see them slip behind, something that hasn’t happened much this season.

If they keep it simple, and don’t put too much pressure on themselves or the ball then they have every right to come home with the trophy as the best Women’s Basketball team in the country.
