Spotlight: Sevenoaks Town Ladies

Sevenoaks Town FC boasts an excellent ground and facilities, including a 3G pitch and stands for spectators. They are one of the largest Charter Standard clubs in Kent, and have over forty teams within the club, from under 7s mini soccer to first team, two Vets teams and a Powerchair team.

In September 2017, the first Sevenoaks Town Ladies team was formed, and has been growing ever since. At the end of the 2019/20 season, the team were promoted to the Kent Division 1 League, a great achievement marking their impressive rise in just three years.

The addition of experienced players from world class academies helped the team grow, adapt to the higher standard of the new league and develop the overall quality of the team. The team is managed by Maddie Smith, an FA Level 2 coach. Here is Maddie’s word on the team and their season so far:
“The extended 6-month break from football hasn’t treated the team kindly as we took a bit of time to get back into our rhythm in the first few games of the season. However, after a lot of hard work and commitment from the ladies, the squad has developed into a force to be reckoned with. The ladies have grown individually and as a unit. I am proud of each player, and how well they play as a squad. Unlike a lot of teams we come up against, we do not have one stand-out player who scores every goal, or a defender who stops every ball. We are a very well-rounded team, with a lot of quality players. You can see from our goal statistics below, we have a number of high scoring players. Please follow us on Twitter @STFCLadies, and anyone is welcome to come along and watch our matches. Keep up the great work Ladies!”

This season, Sevenoaks Town Ladies have scored thirty goals in their opening six games, demonstrating a great start to their season. The team’s top scorer is Caz Kemp with eight goals to her name. Followed close behind by Nat Graves with six goals, and Sarah Gavaghan and Sarah Palmer with five each. Sevenoaks Town have won four and lost two of their opening games and hope to continue their superb form throughout November and the rest of the season.
