Spanish Sun Garrido confirmed on WBBL roster for 2019-20

Irene Garrido has confirmed her place in the Sevenoaks Suns roster for the 2019-20 season.

Len Busch, Head Coach for Sevenoaks Suns said: “I am very excited to have Irene join Suns. She had an excellent Senior year at Minnesota and I look forward to seeing her play in the WBBL. She’s got good length and gives us another scoring threat from deep”.

Originating from Granada, Spain, Garrido played for two years at Wyoming Community College where she shot 47.4 percent from the field as a sophomore, including a conference-best 48.8-percent mark from behind the 3-point line.

Moving to the University of Minnesota in 2017 as a junior, Garrido played in 14 games, hitting a 3-pointer against Penn State and matched her career high with five points.

As a senior in 2018 she set career highs in points (16), field goals made and attempted (6-9), and 3-pointers made and attempted (4-6), all against Penn State.

Irene said of her move to the WBBL and Sevenoaks Suns: “I am excited to be part of the Suns team and play for one of the best teams in the WBBL. I am looking forward to the season and to getting started and hopefully we can repeat last year’s achievements”.
