Sevenoaks Town women and girls are relishing the club’s challenge to jump three tiers in three years

At the start of the 2021-2022 season Sevenoaks Town FC announced an exciting new strategy for the women and girls sides of the club which is to achieve a three tier jump in the woman’s game within the next three years. A very ambitious jump, but one they are fully confident of achieving, and if the first part of this season is anything to go by, it is a challenge the women and girls sides are clearly relishing in.

The adult women’s team are currently sitting top of the table in the South East Counties Women’s Football League, Division 1 West, having only lost one game out of eleven and taking away a whopping nine wins. Promotion for the team could come as early as March but the team’s manager Paul McDonagh told Sevenoaks Sport & Wellbeing magazine: “We are taking each game as it comes and not assuming anything”.

Meanwhile Sevenoaks Town’s U18’s girl’s team, managed by Dan Thomas, are also sitting top of their respective league table, Division 2 of the Miss Kick Kent Girls and Ladies Football League, securing nine wins from ten. Including a well earned 2-1 win at home, at the end of January, to then fellow joint top of the table leaders Tankerton FC, to leave Town sitting back on the coveted top spot alone.

Sevenoaks Town Football Club are working hard to promote and increase the profile of women’s football within their club, with the ultimate aim to have their women and men’s teams run in the same way and at the same level.
A move that can only be applauded and one that is testament to the core values and principles Sevenoaks Town Football Club brings to its community.

Remarkably the women’s side are still looking to secure a sponsor for their team going forward.
