Sevenoaks Town FC put on the greatest show

Sevenoaks Town Football Club celebrated their 135th year by hosting the biggest party in town on Saturday.

Their annual presentation day attracted over 1,500 club members to Greatness Park as they handed out awards to over 1,150 players. It was attended by all squads including their First XI, Powerchair, Ladies, Vets and all age groups for both boys and girls.

The club, who can boast being the largest grassroots football club in the South East of England went big with a full sized stage in the 3 hour awards marathon.

Club Chairman Paul Lansdale heralded it a huge success saying: “It was great to see all our 59 teams from Skills School, U7s to U18s, Ladies, Reserves, Powerchair, Vets and First Team all gather together & celebrate an amazing year”.

Huge congratulations went to Maddie Smith on winning the Trevor Haysler Award for her massive contribution to the club as a player, the U7’s coach and next season’s ladies’ manager. Lansdale said: “It was fully deserved and she is a role model to all of the young people at the club”. There was also a special moment for long-time club member, Dave Simmons, who was recognised for his contribution to the club.

Lansdale has transformed the club in the last five years, with some help of course, but he should be very proud of his acheivements as the club goes forward in new, exciting times.
