Sevenoaks ladies are on fire as they knock eight past Diamond team

On Sunday 19th October, Sevenoaks Town Ladies welcomed Diamond United, in what was their fifth match of the season. Sevenoaks Town cruised to an emphatic 8-0 win, with four different scorers, as they moved to third in the league.

They took an early lead within two minutes as the Diamond United goalkeeper saved an initial shot but could not parry the ball to safety, and Elle Wybrow got on the rebound to open the scoring. The home side then enjoyed much of the possession and limited their opponents to only a few chances in the first half as they forced them into multiple saves, including an impressive double save on 18 minutes.

The visitors then started to add some pressure after half an hour, but Sevenoaks responded and doubled their lead through Caz Kemp. In the 38th minute, Caz responded quickly to seeing the goalkeeper off her line and manages to curl the ball over her. Sevenoaks continued to play their way out of danger well, passing the ball around quickly and tidily, finishing the first half with a well deserved 2-0 lead.

In the second half, Sevenoaks had a good chance to add a third goal through Kemp, but once again the Diamond United goalkeeper saved it well. Wybrow then scored her second of the game on 59 minutes and seven minutes later, Kemp added a fourth as she reacted quickly to latch onto Sarah Gavaghan’s initial shot which bounced off the crossbar.

After 73 minutes, Sevenoaks’ goalkeeper Emily Orchin produced a fine save from a long shot to preserve their clean sheet, then seven minutes from time, Sarah Palmer scored after a great run from Wybrow, and Palmer then added her second three minutes later with a great strike in the 85th minute.

Two goals in quick succession from Gavaghan in the 88th and 91st minute wrapped up a resounding victory for Sevenoaks Town. This is their third win of the season, and they now look forward to travelling to Gravesham this Sunday.
