Phoebe leads the way for Knole in Netball and Tennis

Knole Academy are very proud to announce the recent success of a current Y12 student, Phoebe, saying it has been wonderful watching Phoebe’s confidence and determination grow in tennis and netball, here is what she has been up to this term.

In October 2019, Phoebe was selected into the Saracens Mavericks under 17’s National Performance League (NPL) squad, where she trained over in Hertfordshire every week. Over the winter months Phoebe was selected to compete in matches against the other franchises in the league, travelling all over the country to play Manchester Thunder, Severn Stars, Surrey Storm and London Pulse.

Unfortunately due to Coronavirus, training stopped in March and the NPL competition was cancelled in July. However, Phoebe has carried on training 2-3 times a week remotely via Zoom training sessions as part of their programme. This has been a tough period for athletes but Phoebe’s commitment to sport has carried on.

She was also selected to represent Kent Ladies in the Winter County Cup [Tennis] Team which is a national competition held over four days at the University of Bath. Kent Ladies won the competition and were crowned winter county cup national champions last November.

In February Phoebe was then selected for the Kent under 18’s County Cup team giving players an opportunity to represent their county in a team event and compete at national/regional levels. The Kent girls managed to hold their place in group 2B.

She was also awarded her Junior County colours by Kent Tennis, an award given to recognise players that have represented the County in Junior Inter-County cup championships for a number of years.

A spokesperson for Knole Academy said: “We think you’ll agree that Phoebe is an amazing sportswoman and a fantastic ambassador for Knole Academy and our Sports Department. We wish Phoebe all the best and look forward to reporting on her future achievements, of which we are sure there will be many!”
