National Netball success for Beth Ecuyer-Dale

Ex-Knole Academy sudent, Bethany Ecuyer-Dale, has been signed by the Benecos Mavericks as part of their Vitality Netball Superleague squad for 2017/18.

Bethany started playing netball with Otford Netball Club when she was 9 years old and played right up until she was 15. Unfortunately, due to Sevenoaks league rules, she could no longer play for Otford in the Sevenoaks league. This did not stop her involvement though and she continued to be part of the club by umpiring and coaching which she continues to do so when time allows.

Bethany also played netball whilst studying at Knole Academy and was a fantastic sports leader and overall sports ambassador for the school.

Bethany has been part of the Mavericks Under 19 National Performance League squad which she captained last season. She was then selected into their under 21 squad which won silver in the Under 21 NPL and in the NPFL tournament in August.

The Mavericks have now signed her for the Super League Squad which consists of 15 players. This is the highest level of netball in the country and for Bethany to be part of the squad at the age of 18, and to get to train alongside top players, is very exciting. This means an increased level of training which she will need to balance whilst studying for her degree.

The Netball Superleague is the UK’s top level, elite netball competition featuring eight teams from England and Wales. The regular season runs from February to June with league home and away matches, culminating in semi-finals and a grand final to determine the league champion. In 2017 international stars from across the globe joined the UK’s best as they battled it out to be 2017 Netball Superleague champions, with matches being screened weekly live on Sky Sports.
