Medal haul for Sevenoaks Hockey Club’s U12s!

Following on from the successes of the Sevenoaks Hockey Club U10’s teams last weekend, the U12 teams were to continue with some strong hockey bringing home bronze, silver, and gold medals!

Sevenoaks HC U12A Girls travelled to Canterbury for the Kent Cup knowing it would be a tough day, the format being a round robin of seven matches. The girls got off to a solid start beating Marden B team 5-0. The second game of the day was against Tunbridge Wells, a very strong opposition who they had played against already this season. The girls continued their impressive passages of play and secured a 3-0 win.

Another tough game to follow as the girls faced hosts Canterbury; the girls fought hard to keep them out of the circle with some excellent defending. The girls continued to pile on the pressure resulting in a 2-0 win.  After an impressive three matches the girls started to show some signs of fatigue but managed to secure a solid 3-0 win against Ashford.

Next up were the Sevenoaks U11A team; the girls continued their winning streak coming out 4-0 winners. It was fantastic to see the U11 girls against the U12 team and certainly makes the prospective of an 11-a-side team in the future very exciting with the talent that was on display!

The penultimate game was against HC Knole Park, a game they knew would be tough. They were aware of Knole Park’s results so far and knew they had already drawn a game, so for the Sevenoaks girls it was about staying calm and battling the game out. The game resulted in a 0-0 draw and meant Sevenoaks were in a fantastic position going in to the last game of the day. They faced Marden A, who they had previously lost to at the beginning of the season. With tired legs the girls put in an amazing shift to come out 5-0 winners. Overall the girls were outstanding throughout the whole day, scoring an unbelievable 22 goals and conceding no goals! The whole squad should be so proud of themselves and it is so exciting to see what they can do next as their hockey careers continue.

Sevenoaks HC U12B Girls entered in the Development Cup at the Kent competition. They scored 10 goals and conceded just two goals, resulting in a silver medal position for the girls!

Coach Ash said: “I am really proud of the U12B girls today winning the silver medal in the plate competition. A fantastic group to coach with a great attitude and team spirit.  Well done!”

And the medals keep on coming for Sevenoaks – this time it’s the boys!
Sevenoaks U12 boys started off the day at the Kent Championships on a high with a 3-0 win over their rivals Canterbury. The boys continued to play some sleek hockey scoring 20 goals over their eight games and only conceding two.

They had some tough and competitive opponents throughout the tournament drawing to Folkestone and Tunbridge Wells and only losing 1-0 to Marden resulting in them being pipped at the post by one point on reaching the Regional finals. A superb experience and learning curve for all. The Sevenoaks boys are very proud of their bronze medals.
