Local primary school to host plastic free football tournament

Dunton Green Primary School is delighted to be hosting its summer football tournament once again on Sunday 13th June, 2021. Now in its second year, the tournament is being played on the school field and gives the community school the opportunity to show off its grounds and raise funds by offering a range of refreshments throughout the day.

The tournament provides for two age groups, U7’s and U8’s, so the age appropriate environment makes the young players feel relaxed and welcome, as it’s often the first tournament they have participated in. The competition is run by parents of the school who also coach grassroots football teams in the local area, and follows FA guidelines on inclusivity and fair play.

This year, in a bid to raise awareness for the environment, every effort is being made to make the tournament plastic free. The school welcomes local residents and football supporters alike to come and support the tournament and would be interested to hear from any potential sponsors.

Match balls for the tournament are kindly being donated by Alive & Kicking, a not-for-profit organisation that supports sport and health education with centres across sub-Saharan Africa. The tournament is also being supported by the Fit for Sport app, where participating sports clubs can confirm all players and supporters are free of Covid-19 symptoms.

To register your interest in competing simply send an email to duntongreenfootball@gmail.com.
