Sevenoaks District Council have announced the details of Lizzy Yarnold’s victory bus tour online. The tour, on Wednesday 18 April 2018, will begin at the Council offices in Argyle Road, Sevenoaks at 9.30am, where spectactors can wave Lizzy off, and there will be a half hour stop off at Swanley High Street at around 11.00am.
On route, the bus will also pass through Otford, Eynsford and Horton Kirby before finishing in West Kingsdown. The tour will include stops at several local schools as Lizzy is keen to inspire a new generation of young athletes. Unfortunately, the public will not be allowed into the grounds of the schools included on the tour.

The full route and timings are as follows:
- 9.30am: Bus leaves Sevenoaks District Council offices heading towards Trinity School via Pembroke Road, the A225 (past the Vine), then right at Bat and Ball Junction and onto Seal Road then right again onto Seal Hollow Road
- 9.45am: Arrive at Trinity School
- 10.15am: Leave Trinity School heading towards Swanley via the A225
- 10.30am: Drive past Otford Pond
- 10.35am: Drive past Shoreham (Kent) railway station
- 10.45am: Drive through Eynsford and past Anthony Roper School then on to the A20 towards Swanley
- 11am: Arrive at Swanley High Street (by NatWest bank)
- 11.30am: Leave Swanley High Street heading towards Orchards Academy via London Road
- 11.35am: Arrive at Orchards Academy
- 12.05pm: Leave Orchards Academy heading towards Horton Kirby Church of England Primary School via the A20 then left onto Dartford Road, then right on to Station Road then right onto Horton Road
- 12.20pm: Arrive at Horton Kirby Church of England Primary School
- 12.50pm: Leave Horton Kirby Primary School heading towards West Kingsdown via Horton Road, The Street, Rays Hill, Eglantine Lane and the A20
- 1.10pm: Drive past Hever Road Shops, West Kingsdown
- 1.15pm: Arrive at West Kingsdown School
- 1.45pm: Leave West Kingsdown School. The tour has finished.
The Victory bus tour is being organised by Sevenoaks District Council in partnership with Go Coach.
Lizzy made history on Saturday 17 February 2018 when she became the first British athlete to successfully defend a Winter Olympic title. The Skeleton sensation retained her Olympic Gold at the South Korea Winter Games in PyeongChang after she won Gold at the Sochi Winter Olympic Games in 2014. Lizzy, who grew up in West Kingsdown in the Sevenoaks District, was the only British athlete at this year’s Winter Olympics to clinch a gold medal.
Lizzy, who grew up in West Kingsdown in the Sevenoaks district, became the first British athlete ever to successfully defend her Winter Olympic title when she took gold at the South Korean Winter Games in PyeongChang in February, four years after taking the title at the Sochi Winter Olympic Games in 2014.
The council itself will have cause to celebrate Lizzy’s achievement, having awarded her a grant to help her transition to the skeleton in 2011, and provided further funding for her Olympic campaigns.
“It still hasn’t really sunk in that I am now a Double Olympic Champion!” said Lizzy. “The last four years has been tough and at times I wasn’t sure if I would be able to defend my title, but it just shows you if you dream big and work hard then who knows what you can achieve.
“Thanks to everyone in the Sevenoaks district for all their support, it really means a lot to know you are cheering me on back home.”
