Lingfield Park Racecourse opens the gates to racing fans

Following on from the latest update from the Government regarding sporting events in England, Lingfield Park Resort was delighted to be able to welcome spectators back on site from Monday 17th May, and as such, spectators were able to attend race meetings at the racecourse on Thursday 20th May. The onsite hotel and golf course are also now open, with the hotel restaurant and bar permitted to welcome guests back outside and inside in accordance with the latest government guidelines on inside household mixing.

As per the Government road map, and working with the council, the racecourse are now able to welcome a maximum of 4,000 spectators from now until June 21st.  Those looking for indoor hospitality are limited to bookings of six, and all ticket bookings will need to be made in advance, so that the racecourse can meet the track and trace requirements.

General Manager of Lingfield Park Resort, Russell Bowes, said: “We were absolutely delighted to hear the update from the Government to confirm the next stage of the easing of restrictions, which has allowed us to welcome spectators to the racecourse once again.”

“Whilst racing behind closed doors has been hugely important for our industry as a whole, the experience has really reiterated how important having spectators on site is for the sport and welcoming them back was fantastic. There remain, of course, some restrictions in place for those looking to attend, which we have been glad to work with our local council to develop, to make sure that everyone can enjoy themselves in a safe manner, in accordance with all of the latest public health guidelines.”

“As a business, we have a significant role to play in the economy of the area, and this confirmation from the Government is an important next step in our ability to support other local businesses and jobs. There has been fantastic interest from the public in coming racing over the summer and beyond, and we very much look forward to some of our big events in the calendar, such as our music concerts, which this year include headline sets from UB40, Tom Walker, Jess Glynne and Rick Astley.”
