Knole Park Women’s 2s are back in action!

Knole Park Hockey Club’s Women’s 2nd team were back in action at the weekend as their stop start season restarted! On Saturday they welcomed the University of Kent 1st team to Radnor House School.

The game started very evenly, however the silky skills of Mackenzie Ward broke the deadlock as she glided through the defensive line, past the goalkeeper to make it 1-0. From there the goals continued to come as Sarah Eversfield finished off a lovely team goal to make it 2-0. Ward scored three more in the first half to take her personal tally to four, Eversfield added a superb backhand strike and sisters Amy and Georgie Wakeham-Dawson both scored one each. Alex Sewell scored a first half hat-trick too to make it 11-0 at the break.

In the second half the University of Kent came out fighting and managed to score two quick goals. However, the come back never quite materialised as Sewell add two more, including a delightful backhand lob wedge, Ward and Amy Wakeham-Dawson added one more each and Ruth Bingham netted a wonderful sweeping Knole Park attack. A late goal from the university side was just what they deserved for a very competitive second half, however it finished 16-3 to Knole Park. The win keeps Knole Park top of Invicta Division 6.

The Women’s 1st team match against Gore Court 2nd was conceded and their push for promotion continues as they sit in second place in Invicta Division 2. Next week they face a keen and highly skilled Tunbridge Wells 2nd side who are third on goal difference – it should be a fantastic match!

The Men’s 1st match was postponed and they welcome Sevenoaks 6th to Radnor House on Saturday afternoon at 4.00pm.
