Introducing Sevenoaks & District Motor Club

Sevenoaks & District Motor Club is one of the largest Motorsport UK affiliated motor clubs in the country with almost 400 members.

All members are able to take part in a variety of motorsport activities such as speed hillclimbs and sprints, autotesting, trials, rallies and autosolo events.

The club continue to put on a varied programme because not everyone wants to do the same thing, so by offering motorsport at all levels and ages has proved to be a real success.

Members range from people who just want to compete locally, or from the likes of previous club President Vic Elford, who raced in Formula One and sports cars and also won the Monte Carlo Rally. But it doesn’t matter what branch of motorsport you are interested in, the club can cater for virtually every aspect you want to be involved with.

Some people join just to marshal or help organise events, where they can enjoy the social side of motorsport. The club’s summer autotest series held on the grass car parks at Brands Hatch proves very popular, where junior members over the age of 14 can take part if accompanied by an adult.

There is now a ‘Junior Class’ to help them learn to drive in a safe environment. A grass autotest is possibly the first event that members would compete in as most use their everyday road car which proves you do not need an expensive or specialised car to actually take part.

The club will also run some 20 events this year including sprints at Lydden Hill and the historic Goodwood Race Circuit in Sussex.

In fact, the club runs its own ‘Speed League’ where members have the opportunity to compete at venues right around the country.

Social activities are mostly carried out at the Bell Public House in Kemsing, Kent on the third Wednesday of each month. Annual membership is £25.00 or £30.00 for the family. All details can be found on the clubs website at sevenoaksmotorclub.com.

They are looking for people who enjoy their motorsport and also have some fun being part of it. For more details email the club’s Chairman, Chris Judge, at Judgece66@aol.com.
