Indoor bowling gets a makeover and it’s open to all

Did you know that there is an Indoor Bowls Club hidden away in the centre of Sevenoaks? Did you know it has a restaurant and a bar? Did you know it has suites available for private hire and parties?

Well welcome to Sevenoaks Indoor Bowling Club on Hollybush Close, where the facilities are second to none and they boast plenty of space with great catering too.

Brenda Bennett, the club Chairman, said: “So many people turn up and say ‘I didn’t know you were there’. That comes of being situated at the end of the road of nowhere.”

“Few young people in Sevenoaks consider playing bowls as there is so much else to do, so we tend to target the more mature person or the sports person who is finding difficulty bouncing round a badminton or tennis court.”

“However, it is so easy to get hooked on bowls and the club is also a great place for friendships, modest exercise and it gets cosy and warm in the winter. The energetic social committee organise a variety of events.”

They are currently in the process of organising an installation of new low level lighting plus a new heating and cooling system, work on this starts soon and will be completed for the start of the winter season.

In late September outdoor bowlers start coming back indoors and the season gets officially underway with the popular Ladies v Gents game on Wednesday 11th October. On Saturday 7th October they have an Open Day from 10.00am to 4.00pm, where they welcome potential new bowlers to come along and have a go. Any prospective member can then play for four weeks for free before committing to join the club.

To us here at Sevenoaks Sports, this is a club well worth the visit and we plan to take them up on their open day offer in October. We hope to see you there too!
