Ide Hill dumped out of Challenge Cup

Ide Hill suffered a horror show of a Saturday afternoon, being well beaten by Welling Park in the Inter-Regional Challenge Cup, going down 4-1 in the process.

The cup does not hold good recent memories for the club, also exiting at the first round stage last side to their cup bogey side South East, and they quickly headed to a similar fate after a disastrous opening 30 minutes which saw them ship 3 goals.

George Luck poked home his first of a hat trick after only 5 minutes following a defensive mix up and snatched his second from close range following a long throw, which spooked the home side throughout. He compounded the misery before half time when he added his hat trick goal following more set piece mayhem from an energetic and motivated Welling side.

Following a half time roasting, Ide Hill went out and conceded immediately after the break, a long ball and some sharp Welling reactions doing the damage once more, allowing Danny Higgins to tap home from close range.

Matt Bunn foraged down the right after 70 minutes to square for Shaun Boyle to lash home his second of the season for what proved little more than a consolation goal in a torrid afternoon down at Camberwell Lane.

So Welling Park provide the first blemish on a strong start to the season for Ide Hill, and the home side know they will need to be much better against Stansfield at the weekend if they are to avoid a similar fate when they return to league duty.
