Holmesdale are non-bankers as they lose by five wickets to HSBC

Holmesdale 1st XI lost by 5 wickets to HSBC on Saturday. Holmesdale won the toss and decided to bat first however, after 20 overs found themselves 60-4.

Luke Blackaby and Rupert Harbig began to rebuild putting on 49 before Rupert Harbig was dismissed and Dan Brabham followed in quick succession to leave Holmesdale reeling at 110-6.

Nick Miller joined Blackaby making a timely 22 however with wickets running out Luke Blackaby took the attack to HSBC with a combination of delicate and powerful shots before being the last man out for 89 leaving Holmesdale all out for 180. Ishmail September was the pick of the bowlers for HSBC with 3-33.

Holmesdale got off to the perfect start with Luke Blackaby (2-20) removing Hassan for 1, however the bowlers bowled without much luck with HSBC weathering the early pressure. It took a run out from Blackaby to break a 56 run stand for the 2nd wicket. Dom May (0-35), Rupert Harbig (1-45) and Ben East (0-31) bowled tightly with the latter very unlucky not to have 2 wickets.

Holmesdale created their own downfall by uncharacteristically dropping 3 catches however, the bowlers continued to try everything to push for the win and thought until the end, restricting the visitors without managing to make enough breakthroughs. HSBC eventually reached the target in the 49th over, 5 wickets down with Hutton (49*) and Perks (31*) guiding their team to victory.

Holmesdale travel to St Lawerence this weekend looking to bounce back.
