HC Knole Park men are going for a triple start to the season

In the first match of the season Knole Park played Blackheath. In a great game Duncan Parnis scored an excellent hat-trick, including a sublime solo effort and two penalty corners. Dave Smith picked up two goals and Ollie Dimond scored the sixth as the young Knole Park side ran out 6-2 winners for the opening three points of the season.

In match two it was a very close contest as Folkestone came to Knole Park. It was Duncan Parnis who opened the scoring with a trademark penalty corner, before Dave Smith doubled the advantage smashing the ball into the goal. 2-0. In the second half both sides had opportunities to score and both goalkeepers played very well. Folkestone did however score three times before Duncan Parnis scored another penalty corner and then set up Dave Smith for his second and the match winner! 4-3 to Knole Park it finished in the pouring rain!

The team travel to Sutton Valence on Saturday to try and make it three from three!

…meanwhile the Juniors continue their great start to the season in the England Hockey National Cup!

All of HC Knole Park’s girls sides have progressed to Round 2 in the England Hockey National Cup. In the new knockout format, sides are drawn against one another each round, bidding to progress for a place in the National Finals in April.

The U16A Girls beat Sevenoaks HC for the second week in a row. Lottie Bingham scored four goals, Olivia Breed two and Anna Faulstich and Polly Brownlow singles to make it 8-0 before the match was stopped.

In the U16B Girls match, the team played Marden Russets. In a very close contest a sublime solo effort by Talya Harvey was cancelled out by two Marden goals. Thankfully Elsa Talyor was able to convert a great run from Harriet Medlen to make it 2-2 and take it to penalty shuffles. Goals from Indy Ferree and Talya Harvey, as well as a number of great saves by Tabitha Wimble meant that Knole Park progressed to the next round.

The U14A Girls were also victors in the first round as they beat Canterbury HC 10-0. Biba Mills scored four times, Celia Foster twice, Boadicea Cannon, Evie Smith, Isla Johnson and Mali Nicholls were the scorers in the win.

The U18A Girls & U14B Girls are also through as East Grinstead conceded both matches. They will therefore also progress to the next round.

The U14A Boys were also in EH Cup action. In a remarkable match they lost 4-7 to Canterbury HC. A brilliant hat-trick from Isaac Dale and a single goal from William Galloni saw the boys into a 4-3 lead, however four unanswered goals from Canterbury in the final 10 minutes meant the boys lost and now progress into the EH Plate, the competition they won over the summer 2021.
