Eva unstoppable with three medals at European Championships

Eva Okaro, from Sevenoaks Swimming Club, shone bright at the European Junior Swimming Championships in Rome at the weekend, coming home with no less than three medals!

Eva, who is just 14-years old won Silver in the 4 x 100m Freestyle Relay, Bronze in the 50m Freestyle and a Bronze after helping the British Swimming team in the 4 x 100m Medley Relay qualify for the final, which they smashed!

On Saturday evening Eva took pole position in her 50m Freestyle semi-final with a qualifying time of 25.33 seconds, beating her closest opponent by nearly half a second. Then, in just under an hour, she led Great Britain to Silver in the 4 x 100m Freestyle Relay with an opening time of 55.36 seconds.

Eva then took those performances into Sunday where she played her part in the 2nd heat of the 4 x 100m Medley Relay, recording a time of 56.06 seconds. Unstoppable Eva then headed for the 50m Freestyle final where she finished in a time of 25.45 seconds to take the Bronze medal and her third of the weekend.

Keiron Piper, head coach at Sevenoaks Swimming Club, commented on Twitter of Eva’s success: “What a week for Sevenoaks Swimming Club’s Eva Okaro in Rome, representing British Swimming at the European Junior Championships, finishing 3rd in the 50m Freestyle final. Stunning fortitude, resilience, and maturity from this young lady at her debut Championships. Great work, Eva!”
