Double delight as men and women ignite Hollybush Lane

Sevenoaks Hockey Club held their sponsors day on Saturday afternoon with both the ladies and mens first teams in action at Hollybush Lane against Cambridge City and Brooklands MU respectively. The weather was particularly bad in places however this didn’t dampen the spirit of the players and the watching crowd in attendance.

Sevenoaks ladies went into their match against Cambridge City with a perfect record and they continued their winning streak to sit joint top of the Investec Conference East after beating Cambridge City 2-0. Amazingly this was also their fifth clean sheet of the season as well with goals coming from Sophie Crosley and Samantha Danckert.

By contrast, in the National Premier League, the men had yet to put any points on the board. However that was all about to change and Andrew Ross led the charge with a hat-trick to see Sevenoaks triumph in a 3-1 victory over Brooklands MU. Ross is now joint lead scorer in the league with a total of six goals.

The nature and power of these performances, and in the ghastly weather too, should give both teams a positive feeling at the quarter stage of the season. With five matches to go before the winter break, they now have a very realistic opportunity to put their mark on the leagues.
