Attention all sports clubs in the Sevenoaks District!

Sevenoaks District Council’s ‘Making it Happen’ Community and Voluntary Awards are making a big return for the fourth time next year, once again giving residents the chance to nominate their local unsung heroes.

The ‘Making It Happen’ awards are made up of twelve categories, and a number of those fall within easy reach of club members and volunteers There is the newly introduced ‘Equalities Champion’ as well as the return of regulars such as the prestigious ‘Lifetime Achievement’ award.

Sevenoaks District Council Chairman, Cllr Pat Bosley, says: “Our volunteers and community heroes really are the backbone of our District so bringing the awards back to commend their incredible work was very important to us and our Community and Economic Development Team.

“We are happy to celebrate their contribution and say a well-deserved thank you. Maybe there’s a volunteer who coaches your child’s sports team, a local business who works hard within your community or a charity raising thousands for a worthy cause, so please make sure you get involved and submit a nomination form so your local hero can get the recognition they deserve.”

The categories that sports clubs could look to nominate someone for are:
• Charity Project of the Year
• Community Arts/Sports Group
of the Year
• Youth Group of the Year
• Individual Community Champion
• Equalities Champion
• Lifetime Achievement
• Community Safety

The awards will take place on Wednesday 13th February with a glamorous ceremony at the Stag Theatre in Sevenoaks.
