Two down, as Busch is back on board with Suns

Shooting guard Renee Busch is re-upping at Sevenoaks Suns after agreeing to continue with the reigning WBBL Championship and Play-Off winners for a third consecutive season.

Her presence on the roster collided with the club taking its first silverware during 2016-17 when it lifted the WBBL Trophy in Glasgow and since that time, Suns have racked up two Play-Off Final victories and that maiden league title last season.

A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, Busch also played for Sevenoaks prior to the start of her NCAA career. She is the second announcement for the South-East franchise, having revealed the return of MVP Cat Carr earlier in the week.

“It’s great to have another member of last year’s winning team on board with us again” stated Suns’ Head Coach and Renee’s father, Len Busch.

“Whether it is a starter or coming off the bench, Renee brings plenty of upsides to the team, being an outstanding three point shooter, a solid defender, and really hard worker.

“She is also a major influence in the locker room and with the younger players at our club.

“Coming hot on the heels of us being able to confirm Cat is also coming back, it feels so positive as a coach to get our summer recruitment off to such a productive start. I am hoping to bring as much of last years team back as I can. So, having got Cat and Renee is a good start – we just need to keep the whole thing moving forward.

“It is also comforting to know that some of the spine of the team which has been so successful in the past 18 months will be looking to compete for honours again.”

Suns are expected to make further announcements next week.
