Tipper makes England hockey debut

Sevenoaks Hockey Club’s Louis Tipper made his England hockey debut in a hard-fought, three Test series against Holland in April.

Tipper, who attends Tonbridge School, represented England under-18’s in the drawn series, which took place in the Netherlands and he was made vice-captain where he played in an attacking midfield role.

The England team won the third and final match 3-2 to square the series. The opening match ended in a 2-2 drawn with Holland, traditionally one of Europe’s best sides, edging the second match 3-2.

Sevenoaks Hockey Club Tweeted its congratulations to Louis for making the step up to the national team, adding that he was “a top player with a very bright future“.

His achievements are even more impressive as he was out of the game for three months up until February, suffering with injury.

Adrian Schweitzer, Tonbridge School’s Master in Charge of Hockey, said: “Louis is a hugely talented player and athlete who fully deserves this national recognition. He has shown great determination to make it into the England team and it is a wonderful achievement to be featuring alongside some of the best players in the country while he is still at school.”

Whilst Denniff continues his Great Britain journey…
After an extensive period of coaching and training with Great Britain Under-21’s elite hockey training squad, Max Denniff has just been selected to represent Great Britain in their forthcoming matches against Germany which take place in Frankfurt between May 28th to 31st.

The call-up ensures that Denniff becomes the first Sevenoaks Hockey Club player to be selected to play for Great Britain at this level and comes on the back of a successful season with the 1st team at Durham University.
