Sevenoaks Town start 2018 with nervy draw at Tunbridge Wells but stay top of the table on goal difference

Three league wins in December have kept Sevenoaks Town FC top of the Southern Counties East Football League despite a nervy draw away at Tunbridge Wells in their first match of the year.
Croydon, by comparison, who were in contention for top spot, only took one point from a possible nine over the festive period which has now dropped them to sixth in the table and out of the race for the title.

Sevenoaks’ encounter with local rivals Tunbridge Wells did not start well with Brett Ince being sent off after six minutes of the match starting.

However, Sevenoaks held their nerve and the remaining 10-men continued to show their opponents why they are top of the league.

In recent transfer news, Sevenoaks have signed Lee Carey. Carey started his career with Brighton & Hove Albion and featured on loan with the Angels as a teenager. He then made a permanent move to Hastings United before returning to the Angels in May 2014.

Manager Micky Collins said on Twitter: “I’m pleased to announce the signing of Lee Carey to Sevenoaks Town FC, a great addition to our squad, can’t wait to get working with him”.
With Carey’s wealth of experience we believe there is only one way this season is going to end.
