Sevenoaks Synchro get ready for National Cup with Kent wins

On Sunday the Sevenoaks Synchronised Swimming team had an amazing day at the Kent Finals in Canterbury, with nearly everyone on the team coming away with a medal.

For individual figures, in the novice 12u category there was a silver medal for Ella Francis and a bronze for Anjola Pratt. In the Novice 13-18, gold went to Niamh Black and a bronze for Jodie Yew. All four girls have only swum with the club since January.

In Grade zero 13-18, Katie Thomas brought home a silver medal whilst in Grade 1 12u Amelia Bell took silver, and Tiia Lahdelma the silver in the 13-18 age group. In Grade 3 13-18, Aruni Meedeniya took bronze swimming up a grade and Niamh Black won the trophy for best newcomer in Kent.

They entered two routines, with each team swimming to music for 3 minutes. The 12u team, were ecstatic to take home the gold medal and the U12 trophy with a score of 52.7. The team were Amelia Bell, Angelina Bezuidenhout, Anjola Pratt, Betty Black, Ella Francis, Fleur Kirk, Gemma Grobbelaar, Isabelle Thompson, Laragh Redhouse, Lena Saunders, Lucy Sadler and Maelle Fontaine.

The 13-15 years team were delighted to come away with a silver medal and a score of 55.36, higher than their score at the London Regionals. The team were Amy Cameron, Aruni Meedeniva, Eden Dyer, Emilie Williams, Katie Thomas, Michaela Grobbelaar, Niamh Black, Sayaka Soga, Sophia McInnes, and Tiia Lahdelma.

The teams are still in training for their last competition of the summer on July 7th at the London Aquatic Centre. This is the National Combo Cup and it is the first time Sevenoaks Synchro has competed in team routines at national level.
