Sevenoaks Swimmers shine at the prestigious Arena League B Finals

Sevenoaks Swimming Club competed on Saturday 21st April in the prestigious Arena League B Final in Cardiff, comprising of the second 10 of the top 20 swimming clubs in England.

The performances were outstanding with Sevenoaks Swimming Club finishing 5th overall on the day.

There were also fabulous second place swims from Millie Armstrong in 50m backstroke, Emily Brown in 50m breaststroke, Louis Hayes in 100m fly. They all had great swims at this very high level of competition. They were also delighted to welcome back their University swimmers Henry Choong, Chris Cheng and pentathlon Olympian Joe Choong, stating it was lovely to see them back in the fold!

In a new first for the club, they broke three of the Arena League Records. Jessica Harmer, Emily Brown, Izzy Okaro and Eva Okaro set a new record in the girls 12 & under age group for the 4 x 50m Freestyle Relay. In the girls 12 & under age group, Brown and the Okaro’s were joined by Millie Armstrong, where they excelled in the 4 x 50m Medley Relay.

Eva Okaro then set a time of 27.92 secs in the girls 12 & under age group 50 metre Individual Freestyle, breaking the record set in 2008. An absolutely stunning swim from a very talented young swimmer. Okaro then won the 50m butterfly, only 0.20 off the record!

 

First places also went to Louis Hayes, Euan Terry, Ben Strebel, Zac Raymond in the boys 13 & under age group for the 4 x 50m Freestyle Relay with Hayes and Strebel being joined by Jacob Hudson and Zac Raymond for the boys 13 & under age group in the 4 x 50m Medley Relay.

 

Congratulations to all their swimmers on a superb performance and all those who went along to watch and support the club. Joanna Percy said: “It truly was a successful and enjoyable day out for all”.
