Sevenoaks Suns return to Championship in style

Sevenoaks Suns returned to the top of the WBBL Championship on Sunday with an emphatic 90-39 victory over under-performing Cardiff Met Archers.

Suns continued their unbeaten league campaign as the defending champions moved to a 12-0 record ahead of their nearest challengers.

They started by doubling up their opponents in the first quarter and continued to dominate in the middle periods as they racked up 79 points to all but seal the win.

Sevenoaks were at their efficient best at both ends, shooting at 61%, whilst keeping their opponents’ field goal percentage below 25.

Cardiff only managed to get seven points on the board in the second quarter and quite unbelievably, just two in the third. This was such the awesome power of Sevenoaks’ defence.

Ta’Yani Clark shot eight of 10 from the floor in her 19 points, whilst adding seven rebounds and five assists with three other players in double figures as scoring was spread throughout the roster.

The leading scorers for Sevenoaks were Ta’Yani Clark (19), Julia Koppl (14), Janice Monakana (14) and Judit Fritz (12).

Suns are back on the road next weekend as they return to the WBBL Trophy on Saturday in their semi-final away at Leicester Riders. They then head to Trophy finalists, Durham Palatinates, on Sunday for another Championship match.
