Sevenoaks athletes and clubs rewarded by the Sports Council

The Sevenoaks District Sports Council held their annual presentation evening at the end of August to celebrate all those who had been granted funds throughout the year.

Edward Oatley MBE, the Chairman of the Sports Council, welcomed everyone to the Sevenoaks Indoor Bowls Centre before 8-year-old Ishwar Sharma provided the room with a performance of his yoga skills.

Awards were presented to Ishwar; Hugo Coquelin, GB’s under 12 Tennis Champion; Kelan Ryan, a participant and coach of Parkour; Jack Keech, this year’s winner of the world’s longest-running rowing race, the Doggett’s Coat & Badge Wager; Paddy Walton, a member of Sevenoaks Hockey Club; Paul Yates representing Swanley Rugby Club and members of West Kingsdown Boxing Club.

The awards were presented by Cllr Pat Bosley, Sevenoaks’ District Council Chairman, who commended everyone on their achievements and wished them well for the future.

Those also in attendance to congratulate all the award winners were Cllr Roderick Hogarth, the Sevenoaks Town Mayor, Paul Lansdale, Chairman of Sevenoaks Town Football Club and Steve Rowley from Sevenoaks Sports magazine.

The Sevenoaks District Sports Council was set up to distribute funds to sports persons and clubs throughout the district who may need additional funds to compete at their chosen sport.
Previous recipients of the awards include Lizzy Yarnold, Tom Bosworth and Max Denniff.
