Sawyer hat-trick pushes Town 10 points above the rest

Sevenoaks Town beat Croydon FC 3-0 on Tuesday night thanks to a hat-trick from Frankie Sawyer. The prolific striker scored on 9, 51 and 75 minutes to move the hosts 10 points clear at the top of the table.

Sawyer won the Chapter One man of the match award after his dazzling display in front of goal, and he would have been thanking his compatriot Kenny Pogue for his assistance in all three goals. Pogue is fast becoming a fan favourite down at the Bourne Stadium, not just for his scoring talent but his awareness of the game as a whole. His movement off the ball is superb and creates chances for others and when the ball is at his feet, the options appear to be endless.

The new, yet to be named, 50 person stand at the Bourne Stadium

Despite this seemingly rather comfortable win, Sevenoaks looked tired and disinterested during periods of the game, which is probably due to the number of matches they have been playing of late. However if you want to win a league title, you have to be up for this game for the whole 90 minutes, something that manager Micky Collins addressed with his players at halftime having gone in at the break only 1-0 up. His voice booming out of the changing room to those supporters nearby, clearly showed the passion this man has for the club and his players.

Sevenoaks unveiled their new lightweight 50 person covered standing terrace on Tuesday evening. This is part of league regulations and something that had to be done before the end of March.

Sevenoaks travel to 4th placed Whitstable Town on Saturday before visiting 3rd placed Beckenham Town on Tuesday night. Part one of three is complete, can they make the other two games count towards league domination?
