Lordswood all out but Vine 2nd unable to capitalise

Kent Cricket League Premier 2nd XI: Sevenoaks Vine 2nd (129 all out) lost to Lordswood 2nd (194 all out)

After an intense encounter previously, Vine welcomed Lordswood on another warm day. Having won the toss in good bowling conditions, the Vine looked to make inroads into Lordswood’s batting which paid dividends immediately with Christie bouncing out the opening batsmen.

A solid partnership then occurred until P Robinson collected another wicket for the season caught by Quinney. H Robinson continued his good form from last week with firstly outfoxing Lordswood’s set batsmen caught by Anderson and a brilliant caught and bowled effort shortly after.

Spin twins J White and Quinney pinned the Lordswood batsmen down backed up by every fielder with both bowlers rewarded with 3 wickets a piece; Lordswood all out for 194.

Adams and J White started the chase with intent, almost finding the boundary at will. However, the Lordswood opening bowler settled into his rhythm collecting the wickets of J White, C White and Quinney in quick succession. A solidification by Anderson and Adams started to bring the Vine back on track at 80-3 until the same bowler collected his 4th and 5th wickets.

Procter edged to first slip early on leaving Peters and P Robinson attempting to counter attack against Lordswood’s spinners with both holding out in successive overs. The Vine tail tried their best but were put to the sword by the spinners, finishing on 129 all out.

However, the Vine can remain positive about their fielding performance showing grit, determination and integrity bowling out a side who hit 366-2 the week before.
