Local Kent County sides just keep on winning

Otford United, Halstead United and Chipstead just can’t stop winning in the league since the start of November.

Since Otford United lost to Greenways in the Premier Division, they haven’t looked back as they secured wins against Lydd Town Reserves and New Romney.

A goalless draw at home to Farnborough Old Boys Guild gave them seven points from the last three games and it has pushed them right out of the relegation zone, nearly doubling their total for the season.

In the Division One West, Halstead United and Chipstead have been joined at the hip it seems, as you can’t separate them in the league standings.

Halstead hosted Old Bromleians, Long Lane, Halls AFC and Ide Hill, with only the latter team getting a point out of the hosts. In their only away match of the month they drew 0-0 with Club Langley.

Chipstead were absolutely immense on the road in November as they travelled to Orpington, Stansfeld (Oxford & Bermondsey) Reserves and AFC Mottingham, scoring 16 goals and only letting in three.

Only their home form let them down slightly with two draws against Sutton Athletic Reserves and Welling Park.

Surprisingly Ide Hill only played two matches in the entire month, the draw away at Halstead and a 4-1 win away at Halls AFC. It leaves them with a few matches to catch up on the other teams around them.

Hildenborough Athletic have seen their fortunes disappear in recent times. Only a few years ago they were toasting themselves after winning the Premier Division Championship. Now they find themselves in a relegation battle at the bottom of Division One East & Central.

One thing can be said of Hildenborough though, and that’s entertainment. In the five league games played, they have managed to get on the scoresheet in each match netting six times.

However, their opponents, Herne Bay FC Reserves, Hawkinge Town, Kings Hill, Deal Sports and Cuxton 91 have scored a whopping 20 goals past the beleaguered outfit. Time for some changes maybe.

Nomads, who play in the Division Two West have seen chances come and go in a couple of closely fought matches. An away win at Belvedere and a draw at home to Crayford Arrows set them up nicely for the month but top of the table Sydenham Sports didn’t give them a thing in a 6-0 thrashing at their Beckenham ground.

Chipstead, Halstead, Ide Hill and Nomads now turn their attention to the Sevenoaks Senior Charity Cup in December, with the latter two teams facing off against each other at Moweshurst Farm in Edenbridge, and Chipstead take a trip to Woodlands at the Tonbridge Sports Ground, both on December 9th.

Halstead United host Tonbridge Invicta on the 16th.
