Local football clubs are definitely up for the cups

After last seasons cup triumph by Sevenoaks Town, it appears that the magic of the cup is rubbing off on other local clubs.

Ightham FC are on the verge of a cup quadruple as they prepare for the quarter-finals of the Kent Reliance Junior Cup A (February 10) when they host Eccles FC from Aylesford, Kent.

Ightham play in the Premier Division of the Sevenoaks & District Football League and face the showdown with Eccles after demolishing Deal Town Rangers FC 5-1 in the last 16. They are also in the semi-finals of the Sevenoaks Senior Charity Cup and the Smiths Senior League Cup plus the quarter finals of the Craske & Wells Memorial trophy.

Meanwhile, just down the road, Kemsing United are also trying to battle their way into the semi-finals of the Kent Reliance Junior Cup B on the same day when they play host to Welling Town FC Reserves.

Then in Kent Reliance Junior Cup C, Seal Reserves have a similar task up against Old Colfeians Blue FC to make a semi-final spot.

Local cups update

The S&DFL cup season is also finding its final teams, so we thought we’d give you a quick rundown of those matches still to come. In the big one, four teams are left to fight it out for the Sevenoaks Senior Charity Cup with Halstead United taking on Malgo FC at home and Ide Hill hosting Ightham. In the Junior section we have Seal versus AFC Orpington and Sevenoaks Weald versus Farnborough Old Boys Guild.

Sevenoaks Sports magazine is proud to be sponsoring the Smiths League Cups this year and are looking forward to the finals at the Bourne Stadium. In this year’s semi-final spots for the Senior cup are Sevenoaks Town Reserves, Ightham, Malgo FC and St Lawrence. In the Premier Cup we have Westerham, Boro Lane, Halls AFC Reserves and Kemsing United.

Semi-finalists in the Intermediate Cup are Tonbridge Invicta Reserves, Wilderpark and Sevenoaks Weald, with the fourth spot still to be decided. The Junior Cup will see Ide Hill Reserves, The Bull Horton Kirby, Nomads 3rd and Southborough Reserves compete.

Elsewhere, the Derek Hodge Trophy will see Kingsdown Racers Reserves take on Woodlands Reserves and West Farleigh Reserves host Seal.

The Craske & Wells Memorial Trophy and the Fisher Shield are still to be decided as the recent weather has left a lot of pitches unplayable and therefore matches have been postponed.
