Kingsdown’s Welsh through to the National Finals

West Kingsdown’s George Welsh will be boxing for the National School Boy title in only his 6th bout this Saturday in Grantham following an excellent performance in Harrow on Sunday.

George beat last year’s finalist, Sonny Flack of Dagenham Police BC, with another display of aggressive box-fighting. Super-fit Welsh will be aiming to become West Kingsdown’s first National Champion in what is their opening season.  He faces another tough challenge in the shape of Manchester’s Pep Lyons, however head coach Mickey Bowden believes it is one he can take.

There was however, disappointment for Xavier Claudel and Roger Hilton who missed out on their semi finals through injuries, Bowden added: “It’s very disappointing but they are two good young boxers and their time will come again.”
