Holmesdale in convincing win over The Mote

Holmesdale 1st XI won convincingly at the weekend beating the Mote by 89 runs, with an impressive 101 from Mark Epps and destructive 4 wickets from Luke Blackaby.

Dom May made 44 runs in just 17 balls

Holmesdale won the toss and elected to bat first on a beautifully warm afternoon at Montreal Park. The opening pair of Dom May (44) and Epps (101), got off to a great start with Dom May making great use off the first 10 overs scoring his 44 in just 17 balls!

As Ant Bisset joined the fight Holmesdale were already in a commanding position. Bissett made hay hitting 32 in quick fire style, as the score sat poised on 145-2 with 21 overs to go. Blackaby and Epps continued to set their eyes on 300. As the pair out on another 50 run partnership Blackaby was caught and bowled by Sadler.

Harry Galpin join Epps as the score raced pasted 240. Galpin secured a solid 31 not out as Holmesdale finished 272-7 off their 50 overs.

In reply The Mote made an impressive and impactful start with Matt White (39) off the first six overs before being caught behind off Blackaby.

Blackaby piled on the pressure with dynamic swing bowling picking up four wickets and four out of five of the top five batsman. The Mote were in trouble, it was only thanks to a dogged 52 from Laurence Waters and a 9th wicket partnership from Matt Sadler (35) and Alex Fordham (20), that the Mote managed to take their score to 187 all out in the 46th over.

Holmesdale lie third in the league and welcome HSBC to Montreal Park on Saturday.
