Bowman keeps the Mighty Oaks on track

Sevenoaks Rugby Club’s head coach, Adam Bowman, has been getting the absolute best out of his senior squad during the month of October. The first XV’s superb form spilled over from September as they went on a free-scoring-spree, securing a maximum three wins from three matches. The latest being a 62-6 demolition of Tottonians at Knole Paddock on October 27th.

At the start of the month, Sevenoaks faced hardy opponents Brighton Blues, who arrived at the Paddock having completed an opening month ‘full house’, winning with a try bonus point in each of their five outings and racking up a significant amount of points whilst doing it. Sevenoaks eventually triumphed through the torrid conditions to inflict the Blues’ first loss of the season. Bowman commented after the match: ‘It was probably our most controlled performance of the season so far”.

Bowman has highlighted how much of a factor a vocal Paddock crowd can be to his side. And this has been apparent in all of this season’s five home fixtures so far, as the Mighty Oaks have won all five.

The extra energy generated from the watching crowd doesn’t stop there however, as Ben Adams will testify to. He managed to rack up all of Sevenoaks’ 19 points in their match away at Westcombe Park, finishing with four converted penalties, a try and a conversion.

Bowman added: “Whilst we have given ourselves a good start [to the season], we’ll know more about ourselves come the end of November.” Oaks visit league leaders Medway this Saturday, and we can definitely see some fireworks on the horizon. Blue and yellow of course!
